saraos.tech is an independent initiative for comprehensive management of tech communities. Tech communities are the result of the interactions between the people who make them up, so we take very seriously the creation of a service where each person can express their identity, maintain control of their information, and understand the boundaries of their privacy. To this end, we operate our platform under the following principles:
- Request only the necessary information: While we may offer you the chance to add extra details about yourself (to help define your identity -such as specifying your pronoun), we are committed to requiring only the minimum information needed to use the service. All optional data fields will be clearly marked along with their purpose.
- No selling your information: We will never sell your information to third parties or use it to display ads.
- Transparency and security: We aim to keep your information as secure as possible. Similarly, we commit to using clear language that helps you understand how we use your personal information, its purpose, and the protections you have.
What information we collect about you
- Access data. When you register on the platform, we ask for basic information to identify you: name and an email address. We also ask for a password, which will be encrypted and securely stored in our system.
- Additional information provided by you. Optionally, you can complete your profile with extra details (such as your pronoun).
- Information generated through platform use. As part of the platform's operation, you may interact with others or communities through comments, call for papers, etc. This information is stored on our servers to provide the service. Additionally, we retain pseudonymized information in our logs for a maximum of 30 days to track actions taken on the system (e.g., creating a comment or activity proposal).
- Voluntary correspondence. Messages we receive through our contact options (e.g., via the contact form) are archived along with their associated email addresses to keep a history of these conversations and assist you if you reach out again in the future.
Please note that any information shared by users through comments, proposals, or in community content is not collected by the platform and is therefore the responsibility of the author and the community organizers.
How we use your information
- To provide the service. Most of your information is used to power platform features such as your communities, comments, and activity proposals.
- To complete critical operations. This includes actions to verify your account or recover your password, for which we use your email.
- To resolve errors. For certain issues, we may need to access some of your information stored in our systems or logs.
How we share your information
We do not sell your information. And we will never use it to display ads. The only publicly visible information will be your name, plus any other information you choose to share (e.g., your pronoun).
In addition to your personal information, other content you generate will be publicly visible:
- If you help organize communities, you will appear publicly as part of the organization.
- Your activity proposals will be public.
- Your comments will be public unless explicitly marked as private.
We also use third-party services to operate the platform. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), these are considered processors of your information (services that do not manage your personal information but may need it to fulfill their purpose). Specifically, we use:
- Google Cloud Platform: to host our platform in the cloud and deliver the service.
- SendGrid: to send you email communications.
Exercising your rights
You can automatically exercise your right to be forgotten by deleting your account. This operation will remove all personal information associated with your account, including your comments and activity proposals.
To exercise rights of correction, access, or portability, you may use the platform's web interface or contact us at [email protected].
Cookies
We use first-party cookies (i.e., directly managed by us) to maintain your session on the platform. Additionally, Cloudflare (a service we use to manage platform traffic) provides purely technical cookies to ensure service security, preventing unauthorized access and attacks.
